LEAN INNOVATION GUIDE

A Proven Approach for Innovation Success

The Lean Innovation Guide summarizes for the first time the most important concepts of the Lean Startup and Lean Innovation method and offers with the Lean Progress Model the missing tool to lead innovation projects systematically and quickly to success. The book is structured along the Lean Progress Model and thus serves as a valuable ‘coach in your pocket’.

THE LEAN PROGRESS MODEL

The meta model for Lean Innovation and Lean Startup

The Lean Progress Model serves as a meta model for the high-level and transparent management of startup and innovation projects.

It’s only with this model that you can really successfully use the Lean approach and master the associated challenges. The Lean Progress Model also makes it possible to clearly classify the countless sub-methods, aids and tools in terms of content and process.

Maximum Guidance

The Lean Progress Model shows only the most important six success factors of a startup or innovation project.

This allows you and your stakeholders to see at a glance how your project is currently doing. Without a business plan, there needs to be another transparent way to guide us and give us a sense as to where we currently find ourselves in the open exploration and learning process. The guidance should be as simple as possible.

Maximum Focus

The model, with its one guiding question and twelve sub-questions per success factor, helps us properly prioritize and maintain maximum focus while learning our way forward.

In open innovation processes, we are confronted by countless design possibilities. Over and over again, we are spoiled for choice, and it can be so easy to lose ourselves. This is why it is so important that we maintain our focus and prioritize the learning steps based on the risks.

Maximum Speed

Thanks to the color-coding in the model, we can identify the current status at a glance and are motivated to retest and optimize the open points as quickly as possible.

Many startup and innovation projects are much too slow from a learning process perspective. Insufficient speed represents one of the main sources of waste. The sooner we identify the route to success, the less we invest in going the wrong direction.

Lean Progress Model poster

Used as a poster, the Lean Progress Model becomes the central steering tool for your startup and innovation projects.

It is helpful to print the poster in a large format and hang it prominently in the main workspace. In addition to the central guiding questions, a backlog of hypotheses (inventory of assumptions to be tested) and an area for hypotheses that have already been tested are provided. With the help of sticky notes, the poster thus serves as a basis for agile project management.

FEEDBACK ON THE BOOK AND MODEL

Every person involved with new business opportunities, products and services should own and use the Lean Innovation Guide.

The book and the model appeal in principle to anyone concerned with innovative business opportunities, products and services, and added value for customers and users in general. (…) An investment that pays off several times.

EVERYONE who wants to innovate or found a startup should have read this book. Highly recommended.

Both in the concept of the Lean Progress Model and in its design, the book is a real recommendation. Step by step, David Griesbach builds his concept and takes you through all the considerations involved in a startup. (…) The author also manages to present the topics, ideas, models, and tools in a very condensed form. The sophisticated and very beautiful graphics help to quickly grasp the content.
